Discipleship
We believe that part of the church's ministry is to help people grow in their knowledge and understanding of Scripture and their relationship to God and others. We call this part of our ministry discipleship. We do this primarily through educational activities and prayer.
Education
Adult Bible Studies
Adult Bible Studies take place on a regular basis, usually one in the fall and one in the spring. They are held on Wednesday nights at 7:00. We have tackled a variety of different topics including Van Gogh and Spirituality, Brahm's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and many others. Recent topics have included archaeology and the Bible as well as comparative religions and what it means to be Presbyterian.
Children's Church
The second and fourth Sundays of every month from September until May is our children's church. The children make crafts and learn Bible stories. A fun time is had by all.
Online Bible Study
This is a new ministry of our church. We post a scripture passage and some thought questions once a week. We welcome people to respond with questions and comments. To participate, click on the link below!
Prayer
Prayer is a big part of our ministry at OVPC. We believe in the power of prayer to bring us closer to God and to each other, to change our hearts, to change our world. Please share with us your joys and concerns so that we may pray with you. Requests will be shared with the congregation unless you desire otherwise. (Please note: this form is sent by email and seems to work for those visitors whose email program is Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express. For those of you who use Juno or AOL, pushing the send button will call up a new message where then you can write the prayer request. Visitors with other email set-ups can email OVPCSYR@aol.com their requests. Sorry for the inconvenience, we are working the problems out!)
